Channon grew up in Cornwall before studying Social Anthropology at the London School of Economics (LSE). Following her graduation, she worked as a teaching assistant in a local Primary School and then in the USA as a Fine Art Counsellor at a summer camp, before undertaking her PGCE in General Primary, and then a Masters in Education at Cambridge University.
Whilst working as a Primary School Teacher during the COVID Pandemic, Channon realised her passion for supporting children and families with their wellbeing, and now works as an Education Mental Health Practitioner for the NHS, delivering Low-Intensity CBT interventions.
This is where the Exciting Teacher began: with the aim of increasing access to high-quality mental health-related resources for teachers to deliver themselves in classrooms around the world. Exciting Teacher isn’t just for teachers, but for anyone who is passionate about children’s mental health and emotional development.
The Scribbles Crew have been created to support children’s emotional literacy and emotional regulation development by breaking down big, overwhelming and complex emotions into simple, playful steps that children can understand, while also supporting parents to feel less alone in guiding their child’s wellbeing.
Exciting Teacher and The Scribbles Crew are about far more than accessible resources, the mission is about empowering Educators, Parents and Carers to support children’s emotional needs, reduce stigma, build connections and give children the lifelong skills needed to become successful grown-ups.
